David HuntAuthor, Satirist & Historian
David Hunt is an unusually tall and handsome man who enjoys moonlit strolls on the beach, paragliding and writing his own biographical notes for readers’ festivals!
He is a bestselling author, historian and satirist who claims the bacon and egg rolls at the inaugural Burdekin Readers and Writers Festival were the best hangover cure he has ever found. David’s first book, “Girt: The Unauthorised History of Australia”, won the 2014 Independent Booksellers Award for Non-Fiction Book of the Year and was shortlisted for lots of other stuff.
The sequel, True Girt, was shortlisted for Audiobook of the Year at the 2017 Australian Book Industry Awards and the Russell Prize for Humour Writing. David’s Australian history podcast, with ABC Radio Rum, Rebels and Ratbags, was one of Rolling Stone’s top four podcasts of 2016 and one of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s “Ten history podcasts you need to hear”.
David presented at TEDxSydney 2017 and is a soon-to-be television host. His debut children’s picture book, The Nose Pixies, was published in 2016 and his second kids’ book, My Real Friend, will be out in 2019.
David has a birthmark that looks like Tasmania, only smaller and not as far south.
